hello, everyone. i'm vick carter. >> and i'm denise koch. >> a wide somewhere spread winter storm cripples the midwest and will bring some winter weather to maryland. the storm dumped a foot of snow in wichita kansas. in omaha, nebraska, near- whiteout conditions make for dangerous roadways. two people have died on the roads in the storm so far. the worst of it will miss us here. bob is tracking the storm. >> kansas city got this close to setting an all-time record

with 14-inches of -- with 14 inches of snow. it's all snow in chicago, des moines, milwaukee. the precipitation by the time it reach us will be a lot weaker. we expect to see a mix in the afternoon. you'll see some snow, some sleet, a bit of freeing rain, but things should warm up a bit, and just some rain. it will also get warmer. so will it get much better for the weekend? i'll have the forecast coming up. >> thank you, bob. tonight, more disturbing details in the case of the johns hopkins gynecologist who secretly recorded his parents. mike helgren gets information about how it was set up. >> reporter: the stunning discovery about the well- respected doctor came earlier this month. a complaint to security that

sentenced on march 14. a woman is killed in a horrible collision between a suv and a truck. the passenger was killed in the suv. the driver is in serious can be. several horse were in a trailer behind the suv. the horses were determined to be okay. two dozen puppies and dogs were found in conditions so bad, some had to be put to sleep. wjz is live. kai jackson explains the suspect was running an animal rescue group. kai? >> reporter: baltimore county police say what the man practiced regarding animals and what he preached were polar opposites. >> an operator called itself. baltimore animal rescue network. $but baltimore county police

say barn, as its known, was a fraud, and accused its leader of not helping and abusing animals. >> reporter: the research shows the conditions were unsanitary. the dogs had very little room to move. they were crowded together, and the conditions were just filthy. >> reporter: on thursday, police arrested 29-year-old anthony gere. he was charnlged with 23 gownt -- charged with 23 counts of animal cruelty. police say gere would keep the animals in horrible conditions and later try to sell the animals. >> reporter: police tell eyewitness news that investigators have been watching the suspect and handling these animals since october of 2012. >> reporter: barn has its own facebook page. police say 18 puppy and 5 dogs were seized january 14. 5 of the puppies were in such bad shape, they were immediately euthanized. >> reporter: gere being held on

$35,000 bail. it's not clear at this time what has happened to all of the puppies. >> gere is being held in dorchester county. maryland has moved one step closer to repealing the death penalty. the measure will now move to the full senate, where it is expected to pass. major upgrades for m & t bank stadium, home of the super bowl champion ravens. christie arettto has a look at the futures. >> reporter: next time fans come to m & t bank stadium, it might look different. the stadium leaders and staff

it is painly clear, 29 degrees in central maryland. the cleat first warning weather forecast is coming up. 5 people are killed and two others injured when a small private jet crashes in georgia. the pilot aborted the landing

and sparked a utility pole, leaking fuel and igniting a fire. a surgeon from atlanta and his staff were on board. investigators don't know why the pilot aborted the landing. the tsa issues an apology following the screening of a 4- year-old girl in an airport. this video was taken by her mother. the little girl in a wealchair began squealing when the agents tried to giver give her a patdown. the tsa says the agents provided the family with inaccurate guidance. video shows the fireball that erupted after police say a mazeratti erupted after crashing into a tax say. the occupants of the raping rover are still at large. surprise development in the

oscar pistorius murder case, the lead investigator replaced after he is accuse of murder charges. pistorius's lawyer told the court his cline had no intention to kill his girlfriend. he said the two had a loving relationship. until the highly-publicized murder of yardley love by her boyfriend, dating violence is something many young women didn't think could happen to them. that's why her mother and sister are out on a mission to get the information out. how they're working to save young lives. >> reporter: were yardley love and george hughly destined for caster? >> i don't know what was going through his mind that night. >> reporter: in a drunken rage, he beats her and leaves her to

around her neck. that's a major sign, which we've learned since then. >> reporter: sharon and election say founded the 1 love foundation to warn young women so they can escape a potentially deadly relationship. they want an easy way to instandpointly alert them to danger. >> the one love foundation has developed an app, and it's free. $they team wopped dr. jackie campbell who has studied violence between intimate partners for 30 years. >> unfortunately, young women in college and high school will not tell their parents about these thing, and they also don't recognize them as being high highly dangerous signs. >> reporter: the app includes 20 questions that asks things such as whether you feel controlled by your partner or if fights get million physical. >> they get a score, and it shows on a graph compared to other women how dangerous this is. and it tells them what they need to do. >> reporter: with this app,

northern missouri. we are seeing generally rain on the eastern bank. this batch of moisture moving into the region. we have a lot of dry air. what will happen is initially the, the radar may show precipitation. when it does reach, we'll see a little snow and a little sleet, and then we'll see some plain old rain. 70 and some warm air behind the front. there is some colder air, not super cold arctic air. chilly air continues tonight, but during the day tomorrow, some of that mild air is moving in. and we'll probably see the precipitation on saturday. they will see some more snow in boston and massachusetts. for us, it will mean cool atlantic drizzle or rain here
